The Philadelphia Convention and Visitors Bureau (PHLCVB) has promoted Maria Grasso to Vice President of Citywide Sales and Convention Services, a new customer-focused role that will better serve the organization for growth in key industry verticals.
For 20 years, Grasso's work at the PHLCVB has resulted in award-winning meetings, conventions, and events hosted at the Pennsylvania Convention Center and throughout the city of Philadelphia. Previously, Grasso served as the organization's senior director of national accounts, where she worked with major corporate groups and national associations in a variety of disciplines.
“Maria's tenaciousness and creativity – on behalf of the PHLCVB and her customers – has elevated expectations for destination marketing organizations across the country and what they can do for planners and groups,” said PHLCVB President and CEO Julie Coker Graham. “Her strong industry reputation and the continuity she brings to our sales and services team is the perfect combination for this new role.”
Prior to joining the PHLCVB, Grasso served as the regional director of sales at Vista Host Hotel Management, where she continuously exceeded sales goals and gained a valuable perspective on the region's hospitality landscape. Since joining the PHLCVB, she's experienced economic cycles of boom and bust – reinforcing her customer service skills and ability to understand how to respond to the needs of various stakeholders.
“I'm excited to take on this new role and am looking forward to empowering the team and talent we have at the PHLCVB,” said Grasso. “As the city and industry both continue to evolve, we need to make sure we are creating dynamic, tailored experiences for all customers who put their trust in Philadelphia.”
More recently, Grasso was responsible for securing and executing the 2017 NFL Draft with local, regional, and national partners. This week, it was also announced that Grasso will join the Corporate Event Marketing Association's (CEMA) board of directors, an influential role that promotes professional opportunities, facilitates peer-to-peer knowledge-sharing and drives industry standards among corporate event planners.
